Old new additions and a bit of thinning out

Hi Gents,

Some old new additions these were done a while back by Dave Jarvis but some of them never made it onto here so thought I would post a few pics. Thinning out refers to a bit of rationalising of the collections

I actually have two collections for the Peninsular War one by Dave the other by Tony at the War office both are great but different styles Tony's being more gritty. I have started thinning out the collection a bit to allow space for the new additions a few bits and pieces by Phil Olley and Tony went via eBay last week hope the new homes those items went too enjoy them as much as I did.

 A few of the collections seen on the blog will be going up for sale at some point in the near future the Peninsular war by Tony being one of these Carlist and Crimea also on the short list to go.

More of the Glasgow Regiment I have two standard bearers for this unit but read some where they didn't carry them which is a shame if true haven't made my mind up whether to add them or not.

Napoleonic rekindled

 My niece came to visit yesterday with her 3 year old son, it was a nice sunny day so he played out in the garden, I remembered that I had some of my sons old toys in the summer house so we had a look and came out with a load of figures for the wee man to play with. These were a mixed bag of knights pirates and a few others, amazingly the wee man picked out a French Grenadier of the Guard and stated that this figure was Napoleonic! his Granddad was Napoleonic mad. He left the house clutching the bag of figures looking quite pleased with his new collection.

 His Granddad called me this afternoon to say that both he and the wee man played away in the garden with the figures last night, this in turn has rekindled his interest in war games figures which is great.I will be returning to Napoleonic's later this year in the meantime I thought I would get a few figures out and post a few pics.

Some Peninsular conversions

Hi gents,

Feels like ages since I last posted been very busy of late.The Friday previous to the last one I received a text from the wife asking if I would help paint our sons room 3:30pm.When I got home I realised that she meant that night,She had managed to break his bed while moving it for me to paint the walls.So on my return home I had to dismantle one unit which housed his TV and games put his bed back together and then paint the walls.Next day it was a trip to Ikea for new units fit his TV to the wall and a trip to the dump with his old units,I had to laugh when on the Sunday my wife who had left me to it said we did that really quick and it was no bother to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came across the idea for these conversions in WSS  the work of Bill Gaskin perry miniatures with some head swaps.

French Marines

Hi folks,
Some new additions to my collection today this time beautifully painted by Dave Jarvis.I am at the football tomorrow weather permitting so thought I would post a few pics tonight of these marines and a few other bits and pieces as I wont get a chance tomorrow.You may remember I painted some Perry French waggons a few weeks back the canopy's were sent to Dave along with the drivers so here are a few pics of these also.
I had an email from James Roach this morning to say that he had posted the first of my Italian wars stuff so again weather permitting these should arrive tomorrow I will try to get a few shots of these Sunday.

Convoy ambushed

Hi Gents,
 I visited my Aunt and Uncle in the states last year whom I hadn't seen for quite a few years.My Uncle made the comment " Well William I always remember when I visited your parents house when you were a child we would ask where's William and the answer was always the same he's in his room playing with his soldiers" They moved to the states 31 years ago and were delighted to hear that nothing has changed! Here's some pics for your perusal!

The Garde De Paris used to this sort of thing fire away.I had posted some pics of theses some time ago on the TMP forum and was surprised by the response.A few made the comment that the uniform was incorrect I have to say the red would fling a some into confusion.But with the wonder that is goggle you can see the Uniform is correct with one battalion having this uniform and the other the reverse facings coats so no need for a redo!

The Crossing

Hi Gents,

Happy New Year to all who visit this site!

 I have really enjoyed putting this together over the last couple of years and hope to continue for a few more if enough of you remain interested in what is posted!
 I have noticed a few new faces to the followers list so thanks for joining this small band as we venture into 2013.I was hoping to show off some more Italian wars figures but they have not arrived yet from the painter so these will have to wait till later.
I painted up some Redoubt pontoons yesterday so some pics of these filled with French Napoleonic is the order of the day seen here in all their glory crossing a river somewhere in Spain!

I am going to work on the terrain this year I need more water sections.

 

The good thing with the pontoons is that they are easy to paint.
