The temptations of Acre

Hi gents,

I was thinking about the Third Crusade today and remembered reading about the French contingent not wanting to leave the comforts and ladies of Acre for the hardship of the road to Arsuf. Richard the Lion Heart had different ideas and sent troops back to Acre to encourage the French to leave the brothels they had become attached to!

The Bishop about to put an end to the French fun.

Incidents like this made Richard decree that only washer women were allowed to accompany the army on the march.

The French hang there heads in shame.

The Bishop remonstrating

Party's over for these guys.
Repent now and re-join the Crusade.
The French stragglers did re-join the Crusade but more of that later.
Thanks for stopping by
Best wishes
Willie
